IEM Motor Insurance

Dear IEM members and members' friends,

IEM Professional Indemnity Insurance

Whilst large Consultancy firms normally have the economies of scale to afford high limits for their professional liability insurance cover, smaller firms would purchase a lower limits averaging between RM 500,000.00 - to RM 1,000,000.00 any one claim and in the aggregate. These low limits are just sufficient to cover defence costs leaving very little to cover any damages awarded by the court if the engineer loses a civil case.

The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad (MAA) have developed a Professional Indemnity Insurance Scheme to enable smaller firms to enjoy much higher limits at competitive premiums.

IEM PI Scheme provides cover for IEM members who give advise to client. The PI insurance provides monetary protection in the event of legal action being taken against a member who has caused damage or loss arising from malpractice and/or public as result of professional negligence.

Fire Insurance is a tariff class hence the premium computed for your property is the same from any of the insurance companies in Malaysia. IEM has arranged a special program for members who are owners of factories and with 8 classes of insurance within a single policy.

	IEM Member Travel Personal Insurance
	What is travel insurance? You purchase a travel insurance to cover yourself and/or your family against travel-related accidents, losses or interruption. The coverage is usually limited to the period of your travel. However, some insurance companies may offer various combinations of protection to cater to the specific needs of customers, including long-term annual policies if you are a frequent traveller.Scope of cover - The scope of cover and scale of benefits differ between insurance companies and you should shop around to ensure that you purchase a policy which best meets your requirements.
