Buildings, constructed in compliance with the Uniform Building By-laws (1984), are considered to have achieved the minimum fire safety requirements. Under the Fire Services Act (Act 431) buildings which are classified as ‘Designated Buildings’ are subjected to annual inspections by Bomba as a condition to renew the Fire Certificate for the building. With the large and growing number of ‘Designated Buildings’, Bomba is considering the engagement of practicing professionals to assist in the inspections. Currently, there are only a small number of practicing professionals who can carry out such inspections to verify that the conditions of the fire safety features in the buildings are maintained in the original design conditions. This course aims to provide the participants with the basic knowledge required of a fire safety inspector and hopes that the participants will be able to contribute to making buildings in Malaysia safer.
